What's the weather on Bonaire like?

Our drives & needs to travel are all different, some of us travel for sport, leisure, business, family, friends, culture, nature, gastronomy…But a key factor when traveling is the weather. In most cases the weather can make or break your vacation!

So what’s the weather on Bonaire like?

 Warm & sunny

Warm & sunny

On Bonaire we are blessed to have a year round steady summery weather. Bonaire is located in the Caribbean a little bit north (about 12 degrees) from the equator..which calls for the perfect tropical weather!

Within the Caribbean we are privileged to have the gentlest climate and located in the Southern Caribbean just outside of the hurricane belt.

 Temperature

Temperature

Bonaire is a sunny island with an average of 8.5 hours of sun (and fun) a day! The temperature fluctuates between 84°F - 88°F (29°C - 31°C) during the day and between 73°F - 77°F (23°C- 25°C) during nighttime.

The warmest day ever recorded was 102°F (38.8°C) and chilliest 68°F (20°C). Both in July.

 Rainfall

Rainfall

The island is a pretty dry island with an average rainfall of 22 inches (565mm) a year with 65% of the rain falling throughout October to December.

The month where it rains the most is November, however the monthly rainfall is always below 4.1 inches (105 mm).

The months where is rains the least are from February to June with an average of 0.9 inch (22 mm) per month.

 Wind

Wind

And then comes our biggest friend, the wind! We have a consistent north-east trade wind of 15 mph (13 knots) which eases the heat perfectly.

The month with the least wind is November, it is then when you can feel pretty hot.

The wind is also our friend because the consistency of the wind and the size of the island the wind blows all weather systems away pretty quickly.

So it may be cloudy for a few minutes and then it'll be sunny again. It may rain a few minutes then it'll be sunny again!

Additionally this type of wind is also one of the main reasons we have amazing coral reefs. The wind doesn't vary a lot and it's alway rough on the north side and calm on the leeside.

The perfect wind condition for corals to grow in shallow waters without the wind breaking them, thus perfect for snorkeling.

The water temperature varies from chilly 78°F (25°C) to balmy 86°F (30°C).
